Do you ever wonder how your sleep patterns stack up against other Fitbit users? Well, the people at Fitbit did. They gathered 2015 sleep data from over 10 million Fitbit users and compared the statistics by generation (Millennial, Gen X, and Boomers) and gender as well as providing other insights. In this age of big data, you can expect even more of this information to appear in the future.

As wearable technology advances, even more data about the amount and quality of sleep will become available including the estimated amount of time in the different sleep cycles. Perhaps someday we’ll all have low power Bluetooth enabled EEG (and EKG) sensors implanted to measure our brain and heart activity.
